The laboratory of Dr. Donna Martin is recruiting postdoctoral research fellows interested in studying the underlying molecular, genetic, and epigenetic mechanisms of mammalian inner ear and brain development and function. The University of Michigan is a vibrant college town with a world-class research community. Our highly collaborative group explores developmental mechanisms in CHARGE, including diagnosis and treatment. Projects involve use of stem cells and mouse models for functional studies. The goals of our research are to define roles for the chromodomain protein CHD7 (mutated in CHARGE) in cellular proliferation, differentiation, and fate. Next-generation sequencing approaches to explore gene expression and regulation are also used in the lab. Desirable candidates will have an MD and/or PhD in genetics, molecular biology, neuroscience, or a related biomedical science field. We are especially interested in reviewing applications from US Citizens and permanent residents who are training grant-eligible and/or who come from underrepresented backgrounds.
Principal Responsibilities:
To study the structure and function of developing and mature mouse tissues using genetics, expression analysis, genomics, stem cells, histological approaches, and physiological assays.
Required Qualifications
MD or PhD in Genetics, Neuroscience, Developmental Biology, or related discipline
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Desire to develop and /or adapt novel approaches
Strong background in mouse genetics is desirable but not necessary
To apply, please send a letter of interest and a curriculum vitae to
